Back from a weekend at Bundaberg Agrotrend and the AAA Qld Regional 'Colourbration Celebration' Show (16th May, 2015).  We had a wonderful time and Sharalandan Park ADONIS again took out the major suri prize, winning - 1st in Class, Champion White Suri Male, Supreme White Suri and BEST SURI IN SHOW.  We are very fortunate to own this boy who has a great future.  Looking forward to the rest of the coming year, with him off to the Murwillumbah Show at the end of June, Caboolture Show in July and then the EKKA again in August.   Sharalandan Park FERRERO also took out  a win with SUPREME BROWN.

Surilana Murrumbidgee, our latest stud sire, has now arrived at our farm and has been put to work. He is half-brother to 'Surilana Mind Blowing' out of the same dam, and a son of the famous Surilana Piccolo, whose progeny needs no introduction and are doing amazingly well in the show ring.  Mind Blowing is the reigning SUPREME SURI NATIONAL CHAMPION, awarded at the Bendigo Nationals in September, 2014.  If you need to improve your herd, this could be the boy to do it, contact us for more info.

Alan has just been to the Royal Queensland Show in Brisbane (Sunday August 17th, 2014) to show 'Sharalandan Park ADONIS'.  This boy has amazing lustre and consistency to his fleece and all the things a judge looks for in a suri.  At just 7 MONTHS of age he now has TWO supremes to his credit - Murwillumbah Show in the South Queensland Northern New South Wales district and now SUPREME SURI at the Brisbane Royal Queensland Show.  We look forward to seeing if this boy can grow into one of Queensland's best stud males.

Rockhampton Show

6/11/2013

7th, 8th and 9th June encompassed our first AAA endorsed alpaca show in Rockhampton.  What a great 3 days!  Friday, the display day saw those exhibitors who wished to bring animals for sale, in the pavilion with streams of curious public entering and admiring our alpacas.   With the House of Alpaca stall in the pavilion also, people were able to touch and feel the end products of alpaca fleece, this was a huge bonus.  The House of Alpaca also donated a 100% alpaca throw rug for a raffle drawn on the Sunday.  Whiptail Hills (Phil Godwin) demonstrated his shearing abilities with 2 alpacas shorn for the public viewings.  The Edge Restaurant had chef Scott on hand with a cooking demonstration stall for those interested in tasting alpaca meat.  There was also a photo booth for those interested in getting their pic taken with a cria.  Alpaca garments  were also on display in the annual Fashion Parade held throughout the 3 days of the show in the pavilion next to us.  All in all, everybody had a wonderful day.  Saturday saw the actual Halter Classes being judged by renowned judge Natasha Clark.  Natasha also presented an educational session in the afternoon for those interested.  Junior Paraders turned up on Sunday morning to be judged on how well they could handle their alpacas, judged by Phil Godwin of Whiptail Hills.  We could not have asked for better weather to hold this inaugural show and thanks must go to Sue Welsh (Convenor) of Dusty Lane Alpacas, Mel Hibbett (MC) of Leaholme Rise Alpacas, Phil Godwin for his shearing and judging, those who helped man the AAA stand, and all the other exhibitors who travelled a good distance to support us and also the locals, who made the Rockhampton Show a truly great weekend of events and showing.  Thanks must also go to the AAA Qld Region committee members who endorsed our show and helped in many ways too numerous to mention.  Again, what a great 3 days!

Gympie Show

We traveled to Gympie for their annual Alpaca Show - what a great day!  We took 6 alpacas - 3 suri and 3 huacaya - and came home with 8 ribbons.  3  firsts, 3 seconds, 1 reserve champion and 1 champion which we couldn't be happier with.  The effort that goes into running a show is appreciated and particularly when we travel a good distance to get there.  Thanks again to Robyn (convenor) and all her helpers who make this event worthwhile and enjoyable.
